We’ve been buzzing about Google+ for a while now, and you’ve no doubt heard your Account Manager mention that Google+ Business pages would be merging (at some point) with Google+ Local. Well, the moment is finally here! If you pull up your Google+ Business page, you’ll now see a verification button. This button allows admins to verify that this page does indeed belong to the business and to merge the page with Google+ Local.
We would strongly encourage you to merge your pages as soon as possible! Here is a step-by-step guide to accomplish this:
Log in to Google+ and switch over to your business page. Once this is done, you will see two new things. Next to your business name, you’ll see “Unverified.” Below your profile picture, you’ll see a button telling you to “Verify now.”
To begin the merging process, hit the “Verify now” button. This will take you to the page shown below.
On this page, Google explains that to verify that this page belongs to your business, they will mail you a postcard with a PIN code. We will explain what to do with this verification PIN code in just a bit.
For now, simply fill out your contact name and ensure the address is correct. Once you’ve agreed to the terms and conditions, “Request postcard.” The postcard should take about a week to arrive.
NOTE: On occasion, you may have to choose from a list of pages that have similar names to you. If this happens, check the box next to your business page.
Once you receive your postcard, pull up your Google+ page and click on “Enter PIN” (this button will have replaced the “Verify now” button). You’ll see the page shown below.
Enter your PIN into the box and click “Submit.” This will complete the merging process for your Google+ Business and Local pages.
Once completed, your page should look like this example from the Meatball Shop.
